Default Curtain hanging problem

I have an 'l' shaped window that needs curtains.
I know i can get poles that go round the corner
but the problem is the window goes right to the
ceiling. If i stick a pole up then there is going
to be a big gap at the top between curtain and ceiling.
I cant figure out a way to this. We have blinds
at the minute because these can attach to the ceiling.
Any ideas?

How about a pelmet along the top of the curtain, to cover the gap?

Or a very wide header or stiffener tape on the top of the curtain?

If it is "l" shaped, what corner?

I presume with a pole you need to use rings hence the gap. Could ou
not utilise some form of quality timber and fix a normal rail to it
and use hooks and depending on which part of the header tape you use
the gap would be hidden .

That vertical part at the top...the bit that juts out..... can you
not put a rail on that or is it too shallow.??
Or can you not fit curtain rail brackets to the underside of that same
part ( screws going upwards) so they just project slightly and the
rail will be almost flush with it's face and using appropriate header
tape and with the hooks fitted to the lower part of the tape that
should do away with any gap......whats that part made of .??

Can we have a close up of that vertical bit?

You have got a problem there - this IMO is the sort of thing for which
architects should be shot. Various sensible suggestions elsewhere in
the thread, my only contributions are a) make sure you mount the rail
or pole far enough out from the window that the curtain doesn't snag on
the cill, b) make the curtains very long and full, lots of cheap fabric
looks much better than not enough expensive material, c) you could
consider coming back on the other wall an equal amount so that you wind
up with a "U" shape which has mirror image symmetry and is therefore
aesthetically more desirable. Make sure the curtains are lined and
interlined if you do this so that light coming through from the
screened window doesn't ruin the effect.

Software writers also get blamed by users that dont know how to use the
software.

Mounting a strip of wood on the ceiling, eg 1.5x1.5 allows mounting of
the track, and also acts as a light block for the little space above
the curtains. I dont know what I was thinking when I said 1-2mm, a good
10x that will be needed.

IME some curtains only look good lined (eg dark velvets), and some look
much better unlined with the light shining through (eg patterned
white).

You need a curtain rail not a pole. Attach to celing with spacers. Make
the above-the-rail bit of the curtain fit the gap exactly, or to within
1-2mm. Not ard is it.

Well i screwed a track into the wood that goes across the window.

Though not perfect it was probably all i was capable of.
It scrapes the ceiling slightly but we'll have to live with that.

Bought this house a couple of months ago, thought it was a bit of a
bargain TBH. Turns out it's "The Money Pit"

Thanks everyone for your input. TBH i would have attempted to bodge a pole
up there, never thought about track. ;P
