Don't these minimalist houses look bare and uncomfortable? I suspect
that the unwelcome design principle that has overtaken kitchens and
bathrooms (they're designed to be looked at, not used) has now reached
into the rest of the house... Where were the books? The CDs? I *like*
my clutter! And as for the kitchen, you wouldn't dare put down a coffee
cup. And who cleans all these unending shiny surfaces that look
terrible if they're not polished every day?

And that stupid bath. I noticed they already had some water in the bath
because presumably otherwise when they turn on that "bath filler" in
the ceiling, the water splashes everywhere.

One of the grat things about Grand Designs is that you get to see
others peoples "features" (aka "mistakes"), and decide if you want
then in your Grand Design.

I liked the bath filler, cause I hate taps on the side of the bath,
but I also think its somewhat impratical.

While that house had one of the best looking staircases I've seen in a
long time the crappy hole in the ceiling that purported to be a "bath
filler" was just about the most stupid thing I've ever seen. If you
don't want taps on the side of the bath then push buttons in the bath
top, actuating solenoids, feeding a recessed spigot on the bath wall
works fine, there is no need to impersonate an "elephant ****ing" as
Kevin McCloud so accurately called it!
