Nails on a TV aerial
Hi there,
I've got a bit of a problem with bird poo (and lots of it) underneath my TV aerial - with a tin roof, it stands out a mile away! I'm thinking of getting some nail-strips (like those used in a nail gun) and sticking it around the rods of the aerial .. But I'm wondering if this will kill my reception! Has anyone else tried anything like this? Or any other ideas on how to stop those birds getting too comfortable on my aerial? Cheers, Matt |

Well, it'll destroy the electrical characteristics of the aerial. You can get the same stuff made from plastic - try that instead. Has anyone else tried anything like this? Or any other ideas on how to stop those birds getting too comfortable on my aerial? Normally I'd suggest putting the aerial inside, but since you've a tin roof...! Putting it inside word harm the reception more than... Get an airgun, the *******s soon know where not to perch:!.... -- Tony Sayer |

Should keep the birds away from the area in general not just the TV aerial. I'm thinking some sort of solar panel charging a battery, and a small motor on a timer so that every so often the head turns by thirty degrees. Probably get some neighbour complaining to the RSPCA that you're scaring the birds! My late Grandmother who was always up for a laugh once expressed that she would have liked a Garden pond but at her stage of life it would be too much effort to maintain. Purchasing one of those decoy ducks from a field sports shop I placed it in a bucket of water and left it on her lawn. As it happened she did not venture into that part of the Garden so was unaware of her new pet when the RSPCA man came knocking. A neighbour had reported a Duck being kept in unsuitable conditions and it must be sick as it had not moved for days. G.Harman |
