Default [OT] - Piano, I'd love this but ...

The Church of Scotland is making an unusual offer - a grand piano free
to a good home.

The Kirk's social care wing, Crossreach, is
shortly to be completing the sale of Leslie House in Leslie, Fife, which
was formerly one of its residential homes.

It has, however, been unable to find a home for
the building's grand piano and has only until this Friday to do so.

Miss Mary Macleod, Depute Solicitor to the Church of Scotland commented:

"Sitting in the entrance hall of this property is
a concert grand piano made by John Broadwood,
which I understand is not in the best of health
but should nevertheless be reclaimable with a little TLC.

"The building is to be redeveloped into flats and
the developers have no need for a grand
piano. We have been attempting without success
to find a new home for this. I appreciate that
for most of us, a concert grand piano is not on
our wish-list, but if anyone knows of a potential new home for it then
I'd be most grateful if they could let me know. It wouldn't be
necessary for the piano to be removed by Friday but it would certainly
have to be gone within a fairly short time thereafter."

Anyone who thinks they might be able to use the
piano should contact Miss MacLeod on 0131 240

that reminds me...

A bloke walks gleefully out of the betting shop after winning a treble on
the nags.
He's walking down the street too engrossed as to how he's going to spend it
and aimlessly walks off the kerb into the road and gets knocked down by a
truck. Ambulance comes rushes him to hospital, in the hospital bed he places
his money under the pillow and then has a sleep.

2 hours later he wakes up and finds his wife sitting next to him by the bed.
The wife looks at him and says..."you dont look too good Albert".
He puts his hand under the pillow and says to her...I dont feel two grand
either.

Grand pianos in good nick cost several thousand quid, but somehow
they're not worth a light if you're trying to sell one. Most auction
houses won't take them either.
You can check the age here if you can see the serial number
http://www.uk-piano.org/broadwood/history.html
and Broadwoods themselves may be the best people to call.
Oldest piano maker in the world it seems so not a good idea to let it go
without a bit of research.
Cost my son £500 just to have a Bechstein moved recently, but it was up
a flight of stairs at the destination.

Reminiscent of Laurel and Hardy's The Music Box.
