Sink Waste Problem - Maybe Duplicate
Hello All
just got one of those fancy sinks with a glass bowl that sits on a wall bracket. Now, I have been sent what they call a minamilist waste trap which is basically an arm, which has the waste pipe inside, which then goes to the P Trap. The problem I have is that I have a 43mm waste pipe and it looks as though the trap and arm is designed for a 30 mm or smaller pipe. Can I buy a reducer of some kind, has anyone fitted one of these things before? Advice appreciated as usual TIA Cheers Richard |

If not, here's my reply again. :-) The 43 mm pipe is classed as 40 mm internal diameter, so all you need is a 40 to 32 reducer. The wash basin doesn't have to have the trap directly below it though, and the trap can be placed somewhere hidden along the pipe run, just so long as a trap is fitted to stop the smells getting back into the house it's fine. These types of basin are best fitted with plain waste pipe runs to them, and have an inline (running) trap further down the pipework so they aren't visible and spoil the look of the new basin. So is it possible for you to install a running trap on to a horizontal section of the 40 mm pipe and run the reducer and the narrower 32 mm pipe from there to the basin? |

Argh there it is! something went all screwy and I couldn't see any
posts for several hours. OK well my trap is designed to go directly under the sink waste outlet its a chrome one see the following link: http://www.avalon-bathrooms.co.uk/acatalog/Avante.html its the minimilist bottle trap not a P trap, sorry wrong terminology So based on what you said I could buy a 40 to 32 reducer (push fit), either a straight connector or elbow and connect this to the 32mm chrome waste pipe which is attached to the trap. This connection could be hidden inside the stud wall and the concealing flange fitted to finish the hole of nicely? Sound right? Cheers Richard |
