Sony TC-366
Andre,
Contact the Sony parts distributor(s) in your country, they might still have some belts available, and hopefully will have a copy of the service manual. There is not much to adjust in these mechanisms, unless someone has forced or bent something. The biggest issue is lubrication. Many of the old oils and greases will have dried out and turned to putty. The old lubes need to be cleaned out before applying fresh lubes. I would not take apart the entire mechanism, but threat the symptoms on a piece by piece basis. Unless you have alignment tapes and proper test equipment, I would not try to align the heads. Also, if the heads have a lot of ware, the worn groves in them can cause edge damage to tapes if you try to re-align them. Where to find the service manual to adjust the mechanism ? Yes it's an old timer but I own so much tapes with family souvenirs... And it was a very fine recorder. Sure, DVD recorders are better but.... Regards, André |
