OT : Fashion Alert - Raised to Green
In article .com,

Security's gotten kinda nutty, 'eh? Meanwhile, a billion dollars later... http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp..._go_pr_wh/us_i raq_weapons "In a statement, House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi of California said Bush "needs to explain to the American people why he was so wrong, for so long, about the reasons for war." " Forget about the explanation, how about refunding the estimated $1 billion dollars of OUR tax dollars spent on this wild goose chase? Maybe if we're lucky when Bush and Cheney embrace at the Inauguration Rehnquist and Tom Delay will walk too close and the sheer concentration of evil will open a vortex to swallow them all.... But however it all turns out, we probably won't get a refund. If you were Osama bin Laden (aka Osama bin Forgotten), would you be tempted to crash the party? A sidenote - While this admisitration is unwilling to buy adequate armor for the troops because of insufficient funding, they were able to find over $40 million for a week long party whose security costs are expected to be at least double the party's cost. If you are a taxpayer like myself, you are paying for the cost of security for this extraganza. |

So suddenly, because he's hiding in an area the size of Texas and we haven't found him, he's "forgotten"? Yeah, right. A sidenote - While this admisitration is unwilling to buy adequate armor for the troops because of insufficient funding, You mean the funding that Kerry voted for, before he voted against? they were able to find over $40 million for a week long party whose security costs are expected to be at least double the party's cost. If you are a taxpayer like myself, you are paying for the cost of security for this extraganza. Which armor is the administration not purchasing? Please be specific and current. Btw..can we google back and look at your outrage about the Clintion years and their spending on partys, travel and security? How about a couple of examples for you to mull over.... The GAO said Clinton's six-nation trip to Africa from March 22 through April 2 last year cost $42.8 million, not counting Secret Service expenses, salaries of government workers involved and agency planning expenses. A total of 1,302 government employees from 12 federal agencies or departments, including 16 members of Congress, accompanied Clinton to Africa. The biggest share of the cost, $37.7 million, came from the Defense Department's budget. White House spokesman Joe Lockhart called criticism of the African trip "paritulcarly shortsighted," saying the senators "are trying to find a political issue to raise and are mission the point of the whole trip." The GAO report also found that: -Clinton's five-day trip to Chile in April 1998 cost $10.5 million. It included 592 officials from 13 federal agencies or departments. -The China trip, from June 25 through July 3 last year, cost $18.8 million and included 510 officials from 11 agencies or departments." "Clinton had big parties, tents on the White House Lawn, and huge formal dinners in the White House all through his eight years in office. He never stopped wining and dining the Washington press corps. And all that was at taxpayer expensive. Clinton is also estimated to have spent a good part of a billion dollars flying thousands of his hangers-on around the world at taxpayer expense. Hillary had a government plane to campaign in at taxpayer expense, even though she held no public office." Partisan hacks such as yourself really need to cover your asses better before handing out such obvious opportunities to expose you as a fool. Gunner "At the core of liberalism is the spoiled child - miserable, as all spoiled children are, unsatisfied, demanding, ill-disciplined, despotic and useless. Liberalism is a philosphy of sniveling brats." -- P.J. O'Rourke |

It would seem that the Fashion Alert will be now lowered to Red....for
the red ink that will now follow. Now that the festivities are over and our money is spent, it is time for the Grand Old Hyprocritical Party to get to work....some things never change. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...h_benefit_cuts President Bush is readying a new budget that would carve savings from Medicaid and other benefit programs...he will focus on Medicaid, the health-care program for low-income and disabled people.....After two straight record federal deficits that peaked at $412 billion last year, many Republicans are eager to constrain government spending by curbing the growth of benefits.... Rep. Jim Nussle (R) "Republicans need to wake up. You can't have tax cuts without spending restraint and get to a balanced budget." |
