LeBlond Horz Mill?
I realize that I'm replying to a 7 year old post, but someone else may
be interested.... From my research, LeBlond only made milling machines for about 10 years, from 1902 to 1912. They were all horizontal mills with big 'ol flat belt cone pulleys for drive by leather belts from overhead line shafts. They made them in six sizes, #0, #1, #2, #2 1/2, #3 & #5. Most of the models were available in Plain and Universal versions. The plain models had the standard 3 axis tables with a big horizontal spindle, with a B & S series taper. The Universal versions had an additional swivel in the table, and an auxillary gear drive that could link to a spin fixture accessory, for cutting helical gears. They were all very heavy duty machines, and very well made. I have one of the little #0 mills, which is a beautiful little machine. It weighs about 1200 lbs. The big #5 model, if I remember right, was over 7000 lbs. The #3 seems to be the most common, and I've seen or heard of several of them over the years. I have a photocopy of the sales manual for these machines, which has some good illustrations and general specifications of all the models. It's not a full repair manual, but it's helpful. I'll be glad to share with any other owners. Bruce Johnson |
