You keep saying that RCM is full of idiot losers, and then you keep
showing up.

What are you doing, trying to prove your point?

I'm wondering why he thinks he's the first one to discover Jody's series
of videos ... and not just TIG , he's a very versatile guy . He has a series
about the settings on modern inverter TIG machines that's superb .
I learned a large portion of what I know about TIG welding from watching
his welding tips and tricks channel on youtube .

That's a natural for Jon to post a link and then to take credit for
the attention it gets.

When most people do something like that, they'll post some kind of
informative comment and be glad if others find it helpful. When Jon
does it, he counts scalps as evidence that he's actually worth
listening to. You could think of it as cyberplagiaristic, digital
narcissism.

Maybe that should be included in the next edition of the American
Psychiatric Associaion's _Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental
Disorders (DSM)_

I have 9 DVDs of his videos, a couple TIG fingers and a T-shirt. Good

I was working away, in the welding section of what is primarily a machine shop. I had the tig machine going, and the owner of the business walks by. The first words out of his mouth were "Who made a mistake?"

At that time, in that place the primary use of TIG was to repair machining miss steps.

Welding ****-ups not allowed on most of the parts I machine except where called for.

I was shown how and then practiced filling in quarter-sized holes in
sheet metal with MIG. I can't do it well enough to fill rust holes in
cars, though. It's a lot easier horizontal, over a backing plate or
firebrick.

there used to be a chap in the local airport maintenance shop who
could build up a broken aluminium part using only aluminium rod and
O/A torch. I know because he saved my ass more than once.

You need the right flux.

I can do that with 6013 electrode, I once capped, by welding, a
1/2"
pipe
nipple.

How did he heat treat them?

When appliance and yard equipment parts break in use I assume they
weren't strong enough and make the replacement differently.

The only aircraft stuff I've made went into an electronics rack in the
back. A mechanical engineer designed the shock mounting.

This did not involve aircraft - the shop was for airfield maintenance
equipment. As to heat treatment, I don't recall any. The one
particular piece was a cast aluminium clamping device which had broken
due to careless use. This was back in the early 70's before I had much
experience in metalworking.
