How 'bout That !
I was about to post asking for a refresher on the calcs to cut a gear with
my rotary table . Then I saw a box you hadda be there , we're moving our stuff to the new digs as I build the house ...and since my son and his family are living in the downstairs , everything of mine is crammed into a 12 X 15 room , along with my bed of stuff from the place where I last had my workshop practice series # 17 ... and the 2nd thing I touched in the box was the book I need ! Logan lathes have one weak spot in the QC gear box . It's the 16t/20dp/14.5 pa half of the 2:1 reduction on the left side . Since I'm down to my last one , I figgered I need to repair/rebuild some of the busted ones Thank your diety of choice there were extras with the lathe , these puppies are like 160 bucks each before I end up needing one . My plan is to make a length of gear and machine it to length/etc as needed . Since I haven't found the proper gear cutter at a price I can bear , I'll be grinding a single-point cutter and making a holder for it . -- Snag Learning keeps you young ! |
