Charter -- REC.CRAFTS.METALWORKING

The USENET newsgroup, rec.crafts.metalworking, is a newsgroup which
discusses various aspects of working with metal, such as (but not
limited to):

machining, as on a lathe, milling machine, grinder, etc.;
numerical control of such machines;
welding, whether by gas, arc, mig, tig, thermite, or other methods;
Metal joining, whether welding, brazing, soldering, riveting,
screwing, folding, etc. (this section was added during the
discussion)
casting various metals by various methods;
hardening/tempering various metals;
blacksmithing/forging;
spinning and hammer work;
sheet metal work;
jewelry-making;
purchasing and/or reconditioning metalworking tools and machinery;
interesting projects;
books on metal technologies and history;

Example areas of interest:

knife/sword making;
automotive repair;
steam engine (model/scale, though full-sized discussions are
welcome!);
art work, such as bronze castings and sculptures;
gunsmithing;
toolmaking, such as for woodworking, further metalworking, etc.;

While the bulk of the discussion will probably be directed towards
small-scale "home" shops, industrial/production discussions are also
quite welcome.

So -- are you going to push for a CFV for expanding the charter
to include political discussions? :-)

Or just get a good killfile?

About 10% gets past the killfile these days. :-(

Enjoy,

Tolerance isn't something a miserable physically and mentally
handicapped person like you possesses, Terrell.

You went off your rocker when you didn't like my policy of how I sell
tools because you're so "tolerant". It must really eat at you and your
hero Mark Wieber when someone posts how happy they are with a tool
I've sold them.

The standard approach used by Michael Terrell is when he's shown to be
wrong (very frequent occurrence) is to engage in a personal attack
because he can't deal with the facts. Michael Terrell is very jealous
of others who have the metalworking skills he clearly doesn't have.

DoN,

A reminder every so often probably won't make things any worse.

Probably nothing can be done about the crossposted trolls and I certainly do
understand that it's pretty tempting to participate in them at least
occasionally...

But most of the long time metalworking contributers here really do know
better than be routinely initiating off topic discussion, and especially to
be crossposting when they do so.

You define what posts filled with hate are, Terrell. You're a

Then why don't you just put him in your kill filter and shut the ****
up with your bull****, Terrell. You don't want to learn. You want
people to respect how smart you think you are.
