Does he want a chunk of Stainless Steel 4" thick?

Or does he want custom made sheet metal boxes?

Doors, hinges, cutouts, vents, etc?

From the post title ("Sheet Metal Job") and the 18ga line
it seems more likely to be a box or pan than solid.

Struck me that way too - Joe, you'll have a LOT better results if you
lay it out exactly what you want here, what skills and tools are
needed. If TIG welding or Water-Jet or Laser Cutting are required that
eliminates some people.

Is this a hollow box, a flat pan or a tall and skinny pan... For
pans, do you want the edge rolled or beaded? Seal weld the bead too?

Polished, Matte or Grained? Do you want it all passivated and
finished, or will he handle the finishing?

Does he want it TIG welded from 5 or 6 pieces, or use a Pan Brake to
form and seal-weld up the corners? (Which is going to make getting
it perfectly square and not warped a little slice of heaven...)
Watertight? Pressure rated receiver??

If it's a tank, do you want any interior baffles, or fill, drain, vent
or/and return ports? Sight glass? Or dial/float level gauges?

Can he adapt something already mass produced from stainless to the
job? That saves a LOT over having it made custom. For boxes, check
out Bud, Hoffman and other control cabinet makers.

Certain little sinks and basins you can walk into any Restaurant
Supply and buy a pre-made Steam Table Pan that's close enough to do
what you need and 95% of the work is done - just have to punch in the
hole and dished area for the drain scupper, and TIG weld some studs on
the bottom of the rim to mount it to the counter.
