Default houston tracker system actuator help

If you're referring to a satellite dish actuator/jack, there may not be a
easy way to service/repair it.

I"ve taken those apart before to salvage the ball screw and other internal
parts, and they weren't manufactured in a way to be serviceable.. where
crimped closures and/or welds were used for the tubes and internal parts.
I was able to dismantle them by grinding away welds or crimps.

The ball nut assembly may utilize integral brake mechanisms to prevent the
ball nut from free-running along the screw when wind would try to move the
dish from it's set position.

The brakes I saw worked with the screw, in that they were normally set/on
when the screw was stopped.. when the screw turned, one brake would release
for that direction of travel until the screw stopped turning, then both
brakes were set/on.

By closely wrapping wire around a round hub, the hub turns freely in one
direction, but not in the other.. screw a close-fitting rod into a spring to
see the effect.
This was the type of brakes I discovered in dish actuator/jacks.

One of the brakes may be faulty/broken, and not releasing.

You can gain access to the internal parts by cutting or grinding away (angle
grinder) the crimped or welded areas (hacksaw/angle grinder) that were made
at the factory.. and possibly re-assemble the repaired housing components
with a MIG welder or some very secure hardware to insure that the actuator
segments don't separate if wind loads the dish.
