What Good Can a Handgun Do Against an Army.....?
A friend of mine recently forwarded me a question a friend of his had posed: "If/when our Federal Government comes to pilfer, pillage, plunder our property and destroy our lives, what good can a handgun do against an army with advanced weaponry, tanks, missiles, planes, or whatever else they might have at their disposal to achieve their nefarious goals? I'm more concerned about this scenario: Gas goes waaaaaaaaaaay up. Unemployment goes waaaaaaaaaaay up. Supplies of food goes waaaaaaaaaay down due to lack of fertilizer (oil based) and fuel. Prices go waaaaaaaaaaaay up, or becomes almost unavailable. Government services are restricted, in some cases fresh water and sewage. People start a mass exodus from the cities that can no longer sustain them. They steal their way inland towards the known foodbasket areas and those with farm animals. They hijack a car, and when it runs out of gas, get another. LEOs are over run with calls for service, outgunned, or just outnumbered. The hordes of locusts get to the people who are bunkered in, the "Doomsday Preppers", and the nutcases who may have made the right call, and are supplied. Then the ugly part: Defense of home and castle. Lots of locusts out there, and defending any position in a military fashion has its downsides, particularly when the enemy can wait you out. Seige situations. And supplies will only last so long. And bullets. And people. It's something to think about. Steve |
