Been a while since I posted anything to the DB, been busy, but
projects are always running somewhere in the background.

See swagetool.txt and the accocisated JPGs.

This is a swage pin I made for expanding
the end of a 1" od steel pipe.
The shank is 1.00" Dia. and is held in an
ER collet mounted in an ER/R8 collet chuck.
The pipe is held in a 5C collet mounted in a
horizontal/vertical collet chuck.
The swage end of the pin is 0.930", sized to
expand the end of the pipe to the needed
external diameter for about 1" depth.

The pipe is heated to bright red in 1/2" increments;
the swager being used to plunge quickly into and out
of the pipe for about 1/4".
The pipe is then again heated for the next plunge.
If the pipe is heated for more length, it is likely
to collapse ahead of the tool. This setup worked
perfectly for it's purpose.

Cool!

Looks like a nifty way to fix legs to a
heavy duty tripod mount, for example
