David Freese just accepted the MVP for the World Series with his frickin
ballcap on backwards. He was eloquent, and respectful. But WTF is it with this backwards ball cap thing? It don't matter most of the time, but it seems sometimes there are places where it's just indicative of some clueless hick. If it is going to interfere with the camera, simply remove your hat, son. Where did this come from? Steve |

I care because of tradition and common etiquette. It's like people during the Pledge of Allegiance, or the National Anthem. Take your ****ing hat off. Stand ****ing still. Shut the **** up. Sounds like you're one of those ****wit jerkwads I'm talking about. Go tell your kids what to do. They will pay as much attention to you as I do. Steve |

One can "blame" the Jews for the rum-runners. One of the wheeler dealers (Arnold "the Brain" Rothstein) got approached by two guys for some backing on smuggling a small boat load of liquor over the border. He said he'd think about it - and a couple days later made his counter-offer. Smuggle a ship load in, and he'd cut them in on the profits. "And thus, and American institution was born..." Also "the ride", as in "Take him for ...". And many other colorful idioms and pastimes of the 20th century. "Meier Lansky. Buggsy Seigel. Even Jews. Do thing illegal." Of course the smart money had got out before the big investigations in the 50s. -- pyotr Go not to the Net for answers, for it will tell you Yes and no. And you are a bloody fool, only an ignorant cretin would even ask the question, forty two, 47, the second door, and how many blonde lawyers does it take to change a lightbulb. |
