Looking at the two approaches you have one that is based on unbiased observation and experimentation that only accepts what is provable as is being true. It also changes what it believes anytime there is proof it was wrong. On the other hand, you have to accept as completely true whatever was written in some ancient book, and there isn't just one book claiming the same origin. Nothing new can be added or corrected. Just looking at the two makes one look rather foolish by comparison. Just wondering if you can see that. Hawke Explain the how the universe came to exist and what 95% is made of. I could explain it for you but since I've just been watching How the Universe was Made on the Discovery Channel I would recommend it over me. It tells what man knows about the universe at this time and what scientists think they are about to find. New instruments and telescopes are giving more us data and clues into how the universe came to be and what we know about it. I don't see how anyone can not believe what the best scientists in the world tell you about the universe rather than what is written in some book 2000 years ago when man knew nothing about it. But then I expect people to use their brains to think with and not their hearts. Silly me. As for what the universe is made of I believe that the term is "dark matter". But if that isn't true and it turns out to be something else then that is what scientists will accept as true. Isn't it great how it changes if new evidence shows it was wrong? Can't say that about religion. It's perfect as is because it came from God, right? And you really believe that? Hawke I thought the universe has more Hydrogen than anything else. One time I was out front of a friend's house watching the stars and this guy walks out and introduces himself and really soon started off. "Have you accepted Jesus Christ our Father yada yada" something like that. I told him he was talking to the wrong person and I'm just out looking at the sky cause I haven't seen the Milky Way in a decade. Funny thing was that it was so dark that I never did get to see what he looked like. He starts up again, so I told him that I've figured it out for sure that there never was any god(s) and that nothing he has to say would make me change my mind. And then he asked what the stars are then. I told him that most of what you see aren't just individual stars , but huge nebulas full of stars and planets and whole galaxies that just look like points of light. He was taken aback and blown away. Maybe some of them never really get curious enough to check it out. Which I find hard to believe with 1969 and the 21st Century and all. Never know, I had to beg my mother and never gave up to watch the landing on the moon, she thought I was silly at 8. SW |
