Republican losing streak continues

This is a more minor reason, but passage of this law removes the factor of annoyance about uncertainty in the minds of voters and also shows that Democrats are capable of accomplishing a large legislative change. Just because the uncertainty is over, causes some relief in the minds of voters and that is a favorable factor. When the feeble minds finally accept the fact that they won't be getting healthcare for free, they are gonna come un_glued_, Ig. All it'll take is a simple list of what everyone in the country (well, except for the 20 million illegals) who has no insurance is going to have to do to be legal. My neighbor has been watching the Washington Journal early mornings and she says that people continue to call in thinking they're going to get free healthcare, compliments of The O. When the cost of insurance sinks in and finally hits their little psyches, it'll be like the 4th of July. We're in for a ****storm, dude. Mark my words. Plant _that_ in your Victory garden. More briefly, now we cannot say that "Obama administration accomplished nothing". He may yet take the "most destructive" and/or "worst President" awards before he's done, eh? 2. There is a large constituency of people, like parents of young adults lacking coverage, people with substandard health insurance policies, and so on, who would eventually realize the benefits of this change. When they do, they will, presumably, support its sponsors. What about the people who haven't been able to afford health insurance who will now be forced to pay half their monthly salaries for it? Or the homeless? How will they pay? Also, people like me, who have health insurance, but realize that they would likely lose it when they *really* need it, would also be favorably inclined towards it. Why would you lose it? 3. The people negatively affected are those young healthy well paid people who have to shoulder some of the costs. While some of them might realize that one day they may become old and unhealthy and not so well paid, even if they do not, extra taxes will be a drop in the bucket and not a hot button issue like gun control. Do you really believe yourself there? The healthcare reform has every potential of becoming a sacred political cow, like Medicare, and create a pro-Democrat constituency where none previously existed. The more likely potential is that it will spark the second American revolution, Ig. Duck and cover. Aside from elections, here's one more point that I want to make. 4. As Warren Buffett pointed out, our health care costs are 14-16% of GDP and are much higher than for other industrialized nations, which badly affects our competitive standing. The healthcare law has some chances of reducing that percentage. Not the way they've done it. The whole system needs to be changed for it to be affordable to the entire populace. Prima donna physicians can't be a part of it because they demand too much money for simple procedures. Etc. ad nauseum. I'm just glad I'm not near any large populations of Democrats right now. If and when things spark off, it'll likely be quite dangerous to be near them. One assumes you have stocked up on food, water, consumables and plenty of ammo, barbed wire, etc etc? If not..best be about it. Ayup, more water, canned goods, and propane today. Better safe than sorry. I wonder, if I get cases of chili, could I refill the propane cannisters myself? -- If we attend continually and promptly to the little that we can do, we shall ere long be surprised to find how little remains that we cannot do. -- Samuel Butler |
