Yes, certainly, but it may be getting harder to do that.

Yes, certainly, but it may be getting harder to do that.


Computer technology in the area of encryption could keep any funny business from
happening. Encrypt the speed sensor data stream to the PCM using a symmetric key unique
to the vehicle and your car is locked down. That would require the PCM to refuse to
operate the vehicle if no velocity data is being transmitted. Might suck if your speed
sender fails while you are driving mom to the emergency room but collecting taxes is the
highest moral goal in society. Sorry about mom.
