That's nonsense, pure and simple. I believe he said he adjusted his clothing in some fashion to make the weapon visible -- there's nothing violent about that. Drawing and brandishing it, or worse yet, pointing it -- those are violent acts. But simply allowing others to see that you're carrying a gun is in no way a violent act. Yes, I know he *said* he was adjusting his clothing, but I'm pretty sure that what he meant was that he pretended to adjust his clothing in order to make sure the people saw that he had a gun. In which case, it was an act of violence. If that was not the case, then why bring the whole incident up in the first place? When she's afraid, my dog 'adjusts' her lips to make sure that whatever it is she's scared of can verify that she has a quite servicable set of teeth. One can insinuate that they are armed without showing the weapon. It is easy and unmistakable. It can work even if you don't have a gun, but are scared and in a sticky spot. Think of it like this: you have a gun on your belt under your long shirt that's hanging out. You bring your hand up to rest on top of the gun, but don't move the shirt so the gun can be seen. Or you reach under the shirt and put your hand on your gun, but don't allow the gun to be seen. Pepper spray can be drawn and displayed as long as it is not pointed. Just scratching my stomach.................... while keeping eye contact. Steve |
