McCain Wants A Time Out
McCain are both US Senators, taking a salary from their respective
states for a job they were sent to do. McCain is suggesting they attend to business for a few days, as they are paid to do. Cliff wrote: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/0..._n_128991.html "Why does John McCain suddenly want to suspend his presidential campaign and postpone Friday's debate?" "As Ben Smith notes, McCain's move "is a mark, most of all, that he doesn't like the way this campaign is going. ... The only thing that's changed in the last 48 hours is the public polling."" "John McCain has skipped more votes during this session than any member of the Senate except for Tim Johnson, who had major brain surgery. He has cast a single vote in five months, since April 9. All of a sudden, McCain is demanding that the presidential race shut down so he can return to Washington?" "For all of his sudden urgency, McCain acknowledged just yesterday that he had not even read the administration's three-page bailout proposal." |

McCain Wants A Time Out
"RB" wroe: (clip) McCain is suggesting they attend to business for a few days, as they are paid to do. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ McCain recently declared that he did not know much about the economy. This *business* is being done by a competent committee--what is McCain going to do when he returns to Washington, try to tell them how to run their business? |

He's going to pretend to be our President for a day or so and hope it gets him elected in spite of his age and lack of insight. I wonder if he'll arrive by fighter bomber in his flight suit as bush did? -- John R. Carroll www.machiningsolution.com |

No, he's going to listen to the arguments and vote on the legislature according to the best interests of his constituency. I would hope Obama would see fit to do the same, not to mention the other 500-odd assholes. |

(clip) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ He could listen to the arguments on the campaign trail. Obama has said that he is capable of doing more than one thing at a time--a serious requirement of the Presidency. The rest of the senate will have to vote on this matter as well--should they ALL be in this meeting. I believe you are right, that he will vote in the best interests of his *constituency.* I would rather see him vote in the best interests of the *country.* He will vote on the *legislation.* The *legislature* is the body that does the voting. |

McCain Wants A Time Out
On Thu, 25 Sep 2008 16:50:10 GMT, the infamous "Leo Lichtman"
scrolled the following: "RB" wroe: (clip) McCain is suggesting they attend to business for a few days, as they are paid to do. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ McCain recently declared that he did not know much about the economy. This *business* is being done by a competent committee--what is McCain going to do when he returns to Washington, try to tell them how to run their business? From the NYT article Ig linked earlier, I quote: --snip-- Mr. McCain hungers for information. He can regularly be seen reading newspapers from cover to cover, and aides say he embraces the briefing books given to him each night. His aides say he is especially studious when it comes to economic issues, an area in which he has admitted weakness. A former Navy pilot, Mr. McCain preaches the need to improvise under pressure, subscribing to the military maxim that no plan survives first contact with the enemy. --snip-- He's going to try to help keep the bloody wolves out of the hen house, Leo. -- The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man. -- George Bernard Shaw |
