Any gun owner should have to prove on a regular basis that they have
the financial assets available if a lawsuit is brought against them
before a gun sale is made. It would be handled similar to proof of
insurance before a car license is granted to the owner of a car.

It is already handled similarly. Questions on ATF form 4473: "Have
you ever been adjudicated to be nuts?" "Use illegal drugs?" "On the
lam?" "Buying this for yourself?" Well, OK then!


Question on MN motor vehicle license plate renewal application: "Got
insurance?" "OK, that'll be $xx.xx, on yer VISA?" They don't even
ask for policy numbers anymore.
