No, I can't and if I could it would be science and not faith. At least you're honest about it. Doesn't that show that the two are mutually exclusive? No, just different. The two can, and do, coexist. There isn't a contradiction until you start trying to explain one with the other. Let's approach this from a different angle then... In fact let's use a religous text, bible, quoran, torah, whatever you wish. Can you tell me with a straight face that any of the many books written at the instruction of god are true? Our culture is most familar with the torah/old testament. Can you state that a world wide flood occurred? -- Regards, Curly ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Time to dust off Madam Guillotine ------------------------------------------------------------------------ You need to remember context. The "world" at that time, to the people of that time and place, was pretty well limited to the mediteranean basin. Can I proove it? NO. Can I disprove it? No.. Is it possible? Definitely. Is it probable? yes. As for the whole world? Possible? Yes. Definite, no. Likely? I don't care. I do not necessarily hold to a literal 7 day creation but I believe in intelligent design because it is the ONLY theory that makes ANY sense, to me. And as far as "pre historic" information is concerned the old testament is likely as accurate as any other literary work. In the "early history" phase it has been proven to be quite accurate, as egyptologists and others have been finding over the years. It wasn't written as a History text, but it makes a pretty decent one in many instances. -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com |
