US flag and mounting it on a vehicle
I bought a US flag at an estate sale. This is a fabric flag on a teak
handle, with two steel eyes (like rivets), held with steel rings through said eyes. The size of the flag is approximately 18x12 inches, going by memory. It would look good on a trailer, and I have some hardware that I milled yesterday to mount it, so I am thinking of mounting it on the trailer, but I would like to know if a well made US flag would survive highway speeds for long, or not. If not, I will just mount it on my boat. i |

Re. Iggy's thinly disguised display of patriotism, "Im curious though..why you want to fly the flag of a nation you hold accountable for all the evil in the world?" IMO, he could give a **** less about flying the flag. It is just a ploy to see how many responders he could troll up on RCM. If you are proud enough to fly your flag, IMO, at least have the decency to keep it in good order. I'd motion in favor of the boat. Cheers Trevor Jones |

If they knew the history of dissent and a loyal opposition they wouldn't say the idiotic things they do to begin with. Meanwhile, instead of knowing the real meaning of patriotism, they carry on about waving flags, killing people, and starting wars of aggression. While they are busy trying to prove how patriotic they are by putting flags everywhere the real patriots are out there opposing government tyranny, like we have seen so often since senor Bush took over, and are opposing unjust wars and the arrogation of the civil rights of real Americans as well as the rights as the other branches of government. So while the true patriots do their honest work as citizens the sunshine patriots run about waving flags and putting them up in places where they are treated like nothing more than an old rag. So chose your side. Be an air headed flag waver or be an American who does the right thing and upholds the ideals and values espoused by the Founding Fathers. It's easy to tell which is which. I would never have figured out that the web page wasn't the official gift shop of the White House without your clever detection of the flaw in the web page URL. (As Bugs might say, "Sheesh. I didn't have to go there to figure out, but if you did... (As Bugs might say, "Sheesh. Whadda maroon!") Its sad but True. In fact, 'Bugs' had you in mind when those very words were put into his mouth. You don't have to remind everyone of your shortcomings every time you post. -- Service to my country? People you supposedly admire like Jefferson, Franklin, Madison, and many others. |

You don't have to remind everyone of your shortcomings every time you post. [First: Apostrophe police alert on 'Its'] Half right, it's sad. What do you think you know about me? How often do I post? I think I know you far more than I would actually like. How many posts do you make in the average day? I'm serious, really how many -- on a slow day? Is that the best comeback you could manage or just the best you could manage because you were in a hurry to get on to the next useless post? Couldn't you be more specific about my shortcomings? I don't think I've ever replied to one of your useless jabbers before. I just couldn't resist taking a joking poke, this time, at your total inability to shut up when you have absolutely nothing or nearly nothing useful or entertaining to say but feel obliged to say it anyway. And PLEEASE, did you really tell me Bugs had me in mind with my own pseudo quote? I was using his style not saying he ever had an opinion about you. Like now you are channeling Bugs Bunny? What did Porky and Daffey have to say about me? Here's an idea. Seriously. Try to consider reducing your posts by at least half. Maybe more, if you can manage it. You are addicted to this crap and it is not enjoyable to watch. I hate to drag stuff in from another group, but Fred Bloggs probably has more useful stuff to say than you. A lot of his criticism of your whining about how life mistreats you may not be far from the truth. Here's a theory, people may not be picking on you because you are disabled, they could be picking on you because they sense you seem to be an unpleasant asshole. I'm not disabled but I've noticed I get into more confrontations when I am an unpleasant asshole than when I am a smiling, happy, friendly person. Go figgur. Repeat after me... "I admit that I am powerless to stop posting on usenet. God grant me the serenity to stop tapping my keyboard every time I want attention or feel like a piece of crap." I never got anywhere close to your addiction level, but I decided a while ago, anyway, to shut up on posting for the most part. I have definately rejected most posts I was tempted to make, even after my recent return to reading. Sorry about my lapse in this post. I promise I won't reply to this thread again (unless you say something that I absolutely can't resist or if I hear a cry for help.) Maybe I should go into rehab. I could use a vacation. Lindsay is kind of cute but quite a bit too young for me. Lately I admit I have made a few posts. Several were legitimate requests or honest replies to others. There were a few snipes here and there, but I think all were intended to be humorous. The one I made that started this one was deliberately poking at you, but jeez it seemed humourous too, and you asked for it. Can't you see that you were being an idiot with no sense of satire or irony? whitehouse.org isn't whitehouse.gov ... duh? Call homeland security. We are being invaded by fake web pages with dissenting points of view! --- PS. I've got my DD214 too from 'Nam timeframe but don't usually feel the need to tell random poeple about it at all. Definitely not over and over and over again without provocation. PPS. I am doing this partially because you seem to be crying out for an intervention. We really sort of want to help if it's not going to be a big long-term pain in the ass commitment. Let's try. We at least want it to slow down or stop. |

I fly a flag (US made) every day, 24/7-365 (spot light at night) and have 3 more in storage for when this one gets tired. I am however running low on MIA and Gadsden flags Gunner I finally got to watch the movie, "Flags of out Fathers" last night. Very interesting piece. The characters Seemed to have a close parallel to just about everybody here... FWIW, Richard PS: I had a flag on my truck LONG before 9/11. |
