$18,367 manual hydraulic pump???
"Ignoramus14487" wrote in message ... http://yabe.algebra.com/~ichudov/mis...ulic-Cylinder/ Can I use this ram with one of those manual pumps. At 20,000 PSI, the ram would develop approximately 24,500 lbs of pressure (if it can withstand it). That would make for a nice 10 ton press or log splitter. The question is, is 20,000 psi too much for cylinders like this? (I do not have a nameplate) i Your math is a little off. That looks to be a 2.5" cylinder which would give ?4.9 sq. in. area. Multiplying area by pressure gives just under 50 tons of force from the cylinder at 20000 psi. As someone else pointed out, that cylinder is probably only rated at a maximum of 5000 psi which would give you a little over 12 tons. Shawn |
