Default Cut off tools & Leblond tail stock

Today I was making some 2" OD x 0.05" thick washers from 1018 barstock
on my lathe using a 1/8" X 1" parting tool in an Aloris cut off holder.
Just as I was remarking to myself how many washers I'd cut with this
HS steel tool, (about 25), the dam tool chipped, and as cross feed was
on, the tool caught and locked up the bar stock. Didn't stop the lathe
of course, it kept on turning as the chuck started chewing up the other
end of the bar stock before I could hit the brake. Scared the hell out
of me. Here is the question: Does anyone make a cut off tool, (insert
type), that would fit the CXA Aloris cutoff holder and still cut 1"
deep? The lathe is a Leblond 19" and the Aloris tool post and the
original four sided tool post are the only tool postsI have.

every body makes them , i use iscar by choice but you can part up to
6" diameter with the 1 inch tall insert type cut-offs

only two rules

stiff, stiff set-up

insert holder parallel to the axis of travel and .005-.015 above center

i personally like the 4mm wide inserts

Manchester is one of the better comanys when it comes to parting tools.
The other is Horne. Iscar comes in third place.
