I'm cheaper than you. I just have a small welding table outside, and I clamped a
fixture to it which used to hold sheet metal machines, and then I bought a cheap used patio umbrella with 7' span, and clamped it in the fixture. It's worked fine for a couple of months now, doesn't blow away or blow over, keeps the rain and sun off the welding table. Now I can have my exhaust fan outdoors mounted under my welding table, life got better. Total cost about $15. GWE SteveB wrote: I just put up two sunshades. One 22' x 24' and the other 12' x 30'. They are the 70% shade category, and I got them from International Greenhouse Company. They are grommeted around the perimeter, and I use the small loopy ties with the knobs. One replaced one of those house looking frame things with the canvas on top. The one the size of a car parking space. Which, I might say was an absolute steal for the price, and it weathered a LOT better than I thought it would. It is still very usable. I prefer it to the new shade, as it rolled off the rainwater, but it had six legs, and the clearance under it was restricted towards the eaves. There are a few places where I sliced it with the end of a piece of square tubing while turning the gate/fence piece over on the welding table. I was forever running into the legs and lower outside horizontals. I am absolutely amazed and satisfied with these sunscreens. Anyone else care to share what they did to solve their shade/shop covering problems? I prefer corrugated metals, the carport variety, but where I put this, it has to be temporary by code, and temporary means that it has to be able to be taken down quickly. I can take this down in about three minutes. I will be building a shop soon at the cabin, and I think it will be a combination building/pole barn. It's in the woods, so I need an enclosed metal structure for welding, and an outside area for other things. I believe I will purchase a metal building package, and do the pole barn in the corrugated steel metal carport panels. I do have to be careful of snow loads, though. Steve |
