Default lorch lathe advise

just got an old lorch jewlers lathe with cross table and a good bunch of
accessories--lathe bed sits on two peistals--it is a real work of art

finsh is really good no rust--there are a number of what looks like
brass fittings etc with a whitish finish (looks like plated metal--is
this maybe german brass? )--any idea how to clean this lathe and prevent
any corrosion etc?

any ideas really appreciated
