Default CNC side milling need wisdom

Question.

What are some realistic settings for a good (32 or better) sidewall
finish in 6061 Al with... say a 1/2" cutter. DOC, anywhere from 1X to
3X.

Machine has a 10k spindle and is 2.5 years old.

How much of a factor is the holder? Can you crank up the RPM and
adjust the IPM accordingly?

Thank you,

Peter.

You own a better machine than I've ever ran....

For that good a finish with that DOC side milling; lots o' luck. Of course,
try high rpm, climb mill, very sharp tool, flood coolant, adjust feed for a
sweet spot. You might try posting over on alt.machines.cnc
