Default Die Filer Wanted

I'm looking for a good to very good shape die filer to help make instrument
pannels, etc. for my shop (small one like Keller 1A). Does anyone have one
that they don't use anymore (and preferrably with files)? If so, please send
me an email or reply to this forum.

Thanks,

Dave

I've got one, Dave, a little Keller, which I've been working on from time to
time. It was knocking when I got it, and the air pumping function (which blows
filings away from your work) didn't work, so I took it apart. The knocking was
simple - one of the overarm things wasn't adjusted right. Everything on it is in
excellent shape. I even found a NOS nice GE motor the exact size to replace the
POS Dayton (rusty) that was on it. I only have 4 files, but they're all new. It
has both overarm supports, both the overarm filing rest and the upper
spring-loaded arm for supporting the upper end of a saw blade. The filer isn't
too rare but one with both overarms is. I'm planning to put it into service
pretty soon, but I'm open to an offer. It probably weighs 30 pounds boxed up,
and it would ship from zip 98033.

Hi Guys,

Actually, I was given a die filer! Can you believe that - all I have to do
is pay shipping. It's going to take some work to get it right, but all of
the overarms are there and it doesn't look too bad.

Now, I have to find some files. Can someone help me find a vendor or does
someone have some extras for sale?

Please reply and thanks,

Dave

Someone that posts messages regularly here in rcm (Grant, maybe) produced a
list of manufacturers of die files.
You might try using the Google Groups search for this newsgroup for about
the last 6 months or so (maybe longer).

IIRC, the files are fairly rare, and in very limited inventories in the U.S.

There are some manufacturers that produce some thick common files with
parallel sides, which can be adapted for filer use.

I have a few extras, all new, but need to inventory them and see what's
available.

A Google groups search on "die files" should turn up the info that Grant
post a while back, probably in the last year or so.
