Hi all,
Today in the "last stop before the dump" department, I have a spring
counter balanced arm, previously used to support a dental Xray
machine. If you have ever been to a dentist G you know what I am
talking about. it has a aluminium block that fastens to a wall, and
the arm projects out approx. 24". It then has 2 more sections each
about the same length, with bending joints between. It looks a bit
like this one:

Though the last section above the x-ray head is approx the same length
as the other 2. The springs in the arms act to counter balance the
weight of the head, which I am guessing weighs about 25-30 pounds.
IIRC, the post where the head attaches is attached such that it
remains vertical no matter how you move the arm, but don't quote me on
that.

Not sure if anyone would want such a thing. But if there is anyone
who does, I bet they can be found on RCM! I used one just like this to
mount a heavy hydraulic wire crimping head on at a place I used to
work. Worked great. Allowed a 120 pound woman who worked there to
swing the thing around and position it precisely all day with no
effort. Might be good for something similar. I thought of a combo
smoke extractor/work light for my welding area, but I don't really
need one enough to make me do that right now, and I don't want to
store it forever.

It is located in NE Massachusetts, near Lowell. Anyone who wants to
pick it up can have it. It weighs probably 30 lbs. I will ship it if
someone wants to pay the cost of shipping and a token for my time.

Anyhow, I HATE to send cool stuff like this to the landfill. Reply
