I'm slowly working towards getting my milling machine up and running
(Sturdimill 1250), lots of parts have now been replaced and the wiring is slowly being sorted out. I won a set of linear scales for a very low price on ebay, so I've been looking at fitting them, but it's not as easy as I thought. The knee axis shouldn't be too bad, there's room on the left side to mount a scale on the column but I'm having difficulty finding where to mount the scale for the table axis, the front of the table is out because the leadscrew nut adjuster, table clamps, oil sight glass, trip dogs and the trip body are all in the way at the front of the table. The rear of the table looks better but the coolant collection trough (?) is fixed to the saddle and obstructs any possible mounting points for the scale. Anyone have any experience of DROs on a Sturdimill or a similar knee mill? Martin -- martindot herewhybrowat herentlworlddot herecom |
