Unvented Gas Fireplace Problem
My unvented indoor gas fireplace consistently lights up just fine for a
few minutes, then pops off for no apparent reason. Does this sound like it's a safety device that wrongly thinks the flame went out? Is this something an average homeowner should attempt to fix? |

On 1/18/2005 12:55 PM US(ET), Bert Byfield took fingers to keys, and
typed the following: My unvented indoor gas fireplace consistently lights up just fine for a few minutes, then pops off for no apparent reason. Does this sound like it's a safety device that wrongly thinks the flame went out? Is this something an average homeowner should attempt to fix? There is a temperature sensor inside the unit. It is a small silver colored cylinder with a woven metal wire attached that clips onto the firebox somewhere. It may be mounted too close to the heater unit. Move it further away and/or lower. That could be a simple reason, but there could be another more technical one. Start there and see if it helps. -- Bill |

If you have the instructions they usually have troubleshooting info. Check
the manufacturers web site too. "Bert Byfield" wrote in message . 165... My unvented indoor gas fireplace consistently lights up just fine for a few minutes, then pops off for no apparent reason. Either the ODS is dirty or it has gone bad. The ODS is where the pilot flame
comes out. Take a can of compressed air like what is used to clean computers and blow out the ODS. Blow it first from the two small holes in the sides toward the back. Then back down where the pilot flame comes out. "Bert Byfield" wrote in message . 165...
