Need a new Circuit-Tracer / NCV tester
I purchased a UNI-T , UT-25B, but I am disappointed in it.
The receiver works, but its the same pitch for both alerts ! Short beep for NCV (voltage) and fast beeps signal trace. Couldn't they haves provided a second pitch so you could differentiate between the alerts w/o having to test it on another circuit just to try and remember which is fast and witch is slow ?! Maybe a second pair of LEDs to let you know what its alerting you for ?! 2nd Issue: Transmitter only works while it has power ? What if you are trying to find a circuit breaker for a circuit that is not hot ? Can someone recommend a Tester that is easier to use that won't break the bank. I only use it occasionally. Thank You. |

I don't know of a A/C circuit tracer that doesn't use power. Telephone people use what is variously called a toner & probe or Fox & Hound. You cannot have A/C going into the circuit or all you will hear is hum. The one breaker / circuit tracer I have seen used is an Ideal. You get what you pay for. -- Tekkie |
