Default Having to use full screen since Google Groups changed

Every sense GG changed their format, I have to use full screen in order to post or reply.

Is anyone else having to do that?

Why would you choose to use google groups for usenet access? Get a
usenet reader.

This will no longer be a problem once we start rounding up Leftists
and shipping them to predetermined locations around the country where
they can then be exterminated.

Have not used them in years. Some groups are partial to posts emanating
from there. I would recommend Thunderbird or another news reader.

Get Thunderbird and spend $3 for a blocknews account. Much better than GG.

I see you really didn't get an answer to your question, just advice to
switch to something else. Sometimes using Google Groups is good if
you're using multiple computers and don't want to lose track of what
has already been read. Having said that I still prefer the separate
newsreader/news server combo.

No, I do not have to maximize the browser to use Google Groups, but I
am using Google Chrome.

Yes, I never use GG in less than full screen, but I just tried it for you and it doesn't work here
either. I'm using Mypal browser on this laptop, it's a Firefox derivative. At less than full
screen, you can't see or get to what's on the right part, eg the reply button at the upper right
corner.

I avoided the new GG for months until they finally forced it on us. The old one was not only
fine, but better, IMO. What did they add with the new? Nothing I can see. It's one of those
stupid overhauls on something that was working fine. I sent them that as feedback too when
it wanted to know why I preferred the existing version. Now if they added something useful,
like being able to add pictures, that would be a welcome improvement.

I'm pretty sure they made it look more like gmail. I don't use gmail, but the new look
is consistent with Outlook.

A simplified user experience, blah, blah, blah.

Some groups, like this one do not support pictures, therefore posters use image
sites. It is not the fault of Google groups or a particular newsreader. It is a
result of how newsgroups started out using very slow connections with age
defying transfer rates. If your reader supports it one can d/l the database
files to the cloud and d/l the file prior to updating from the server.

I can't find the filter command. In the past I could set it to show anything I'd replied to or asked. Without that function most of the usefulness is gone.

That is why I suggested Google Groups could change it. AFAIK, nothing stopping them
from an implementation that allows pictures at GG. It would be an advantage for them,
pics at GG, but not viewable elsewhere. Alternatively, they could certainly implement
a hosting site for pictures, integrate it into GG, have it work directly with GG, but you can
use a link to the host with posts made outside GG

Google has picture hosting. You you have to sign up with Google to use it.

I don't think their heart is really in GG. The change to its appearance suggests
a merging of the GG and Gmail code for ease of maintenance. I wonder when
they'll give it up altogether.
