It just points out what happens when medicine is "priceless". This is
basically replaced by a fireman squeezing a bag. $100 is probably a
reasonable price for something that works but it won't have all the

This is the prototype but a real one could easily have a metal can
that any metal shop could make, The rest looks like off the shelf
parts and the mechanics could actually even be different. (cylinder
and a crank shaft, linear actuator, whatever) The software in the PIC
may be the part the MIT guys have to part with but I think this is in
the public domain. The trick might be finding ventilator bags if you
don't go with another mechanical pumping method.
This is certainly a pretty simple machine and all the brains is just
in adjusting the pressure, volume and speed.
