It's a different matter with the general supply to a house as
there
are lots of appliances that might be (partially) earthing one
side
or
the other of the supply.

You're a right pessimist if you assume TWO faults.

The system has been designed so that you don't
get killed even when that does happen at times.

It almost never will.

Funny thing is, we have all these silly rules, yet they sell legal
double
sockets that have a 20A limit, yet you can plug two 13A appliances
into
them without anything blowing. They claim it would never happen,
but
it
does, and I've seen it.

Look up diversity..

It's bull****, I've seen two 3kW appliances running off a double
socket
which melted and almost caused a fire. Luckily the flammable stuff (a
pile of paperwork) was not quite close enough to the socket.

Given decent quality plugs and sockets that shouldn't happen. Does
anyone really run Six kW continuously off a double outlet anyway?...

You only need two large kitchen appliances, like a washing machine and a
tumble dryer. Anyway, it gets damn hot very quickly at 6kW, it doesn't
need to be continuously to get hot enough to set light to something
lying
against the socket, like the wallpaper....

So the washer and tumble drier are pulling 6 kW all the time then?..

the dryer is 3kW continuously for an hour and a half. So all the time the
washer is heating, that's 6kW.

All the time! What are you doing feeding a steam engine;?..
