Default OT, The Mystery of Water - What we know is a drop.

A fascinating documentary about "Water" that was

made 10 years ago and after you watch it, you'll be
wondering what has been discovered since. ^_^

Red flag popped up. Water is not an element. It is a
compound of the elements hydrogen and oxygen.
Where on the periodic table do you see water listed?
This makes the rest of the clip suspect...

I thought it was made clear(no pun) in the video that water is a compound and not an element in itself. Water is everywhere and we can't exist without it. I remember a SciFi show where the Outerspace aliens referred to humans as bags of mostly water. I think the aliens were silicon-based lifeforms or some such nonsense. ^_^

I glanced at it and was expecting something like this which came to mind:

"Avogadro's number tells us there are 6.022 x 10 to the 23rd molecules
of water per mole of water. So, next we calculate how many molecules
there are in a drop of water, which we determined contains 0.002775
moles: molecules in a drop of water = (6.022 x 1023 molecules/mole) x
0.002275 moles."

I always remember when some idiot Canadian official told me he did not
want to see a single molecule of a chlorinated compound in his drinking
water. He had no concept of Avogadro's number.

Life on dry land has never been the same since life
figured out a way to carry their water sacks around
with them.

I see what you mean now and that wasn't one of the scientist saying it. It was the narrator and it slipped by the editor. Other than a little screwup from the narrator, I thought it was an interesting program. o_O
