A chemistry professor got his kids ready for school. Then ICE arrested him on his front lawn.
A very small taste of the kind of bad PR that will be awaiting the
American Eichmann (Trump) should he attempt to deport the DACA enrollees. It would make more sense to deport uneducated Russian trolls like Boris and Burpford than it does to deport a Chemistry professor. ICE arrests Kansas chemistry professor and father of three The Washington Post http://tinyurl.com/ybrywbne "The arrest of a “beloved Lawrence family man, scientist and community leader” came as a shock to Jamal’s friends and neighbors in the Kansas City area, where he has lived since arriving in the United States on a student visa from Bangladesh more than 30 years ago. He would go on to also attain graduate degrees in molecular biosciences and pharmaceutical engineering, then settle in Lawrence to raise a family." -- "In matters of conscience, the law of the majority has no place." However, considering Trump's "merit" argument and the rarity of people with the qualifications of this man, the public relations value of publicizing this, is significantly greater than publicizing the deportation of a farm worker. Personally, I find value in the vast majority human beings (sans violent criminals, traitors, etc), but I am realistic about how society, in general, judges people. -- "In matters of conscience, the law of the majority has no place." Was Bangladesh on his ******** list? It would be if anyone asked him, that's for sure. So, here we have that and after 30 years he's being deported. Obviously the problem here is that the country has been betrayed by presidents at least going back to Clinton. He came here in 1988 legally. He could have renewed for years, but by the mid 90s you'd think his time was up. That is when he should have been deported. Now we have a real mess. One thing is for sure. If they ever can pass an immigration bill, one that gives illegals amnesty, that bill should spend pages documenting this disaster, how failure to enforce the law has lead to this and it should clearly state the intent of the Congress that from here on, immigration law is absolutely to be enforced, no if's and's or buts. And then, if some future president decides to start ignoring it again, presumably a court case would be brought and they would have the clear intent of Congress, the clear intent of the law, to argue their case for enforcement and prevail. The joke of the day, I heard this AM that McCain and Coons have a proposal to give amnesty to 1.8 mil, no wall, just calling for a study on border security. That's about as dumb as anything I've seen in recent years. No way that would ever get through Congress and Trump would never sign it, he'd have to be a total fool. A study is exactly what should have been done, but again, why hasn't Congress done this years ago? Why didn't Trump ask for it a year ago? In Trump's case it's because he doesn't need no stinking survey about the best solution, he thinks he already knows it. |

And of course you're OK with his wife and children, which are US citizens going on welfare and food stamps, losing their house, right? That makes a lot of sense. Turn a tax paying American family into one without a father that's on public assistance. That's part of the new conservative agenda too, more families without fathers is the way to go, right? No father, on welfare, probably drugs and crime next, that's where you want them headed, right? |

Fortunately, that attitude and raids like this are going to play very poorly in the press when it starts happening to the DACA kids. As an aside, I look forward to you having a similar hard-line legalistic perspective at the conclusion of the Mueller investigation. |

Once you're here illegally, for whatever reason, it's either not easy or impossible. The DACA for example are begging for a way to become legal. This guy did the wrong thing two or three decades ago. The US also did the wrong thing by not enforcing the law for two decades plus. The question is, what is the right, humane, decent, American thing to do about it now. You'd deport him? |

For example, the guy in Detroit would have to be out of the country for ten years before he can apply to come in again. If it was a matter of a lawyer, there are all kinds of advocates, including the best immigration lawyers trying to do something for these people. And as these cases show, the best they can do is delay, stall for awhile, but I have yet to hear a story of them making someone like this legal. |

If federal immigration law had been strictly enforced through the years after Eisenhower left office, the country wouldn't be having a problem with illegal immigrants today. Both political parties are to blame for being lax on enforcement. Now all these criminal immigrants and Commiecrats are whining and crying because the laws are finally being enforced. Commiecrats need the votes from illegal immigrants and don't like seeing their voter base being eroded. They would be howling if The United States treated illegal immigrants the way Mexico does.
