Try a magnet on these and see if they are really brass or just brass
plated steel. It will make a big difference in what you have to do to
restore them. Brass over steel will have to be re plated and that may
be more than the lamps are worth.

+1 There is an architectural salvage place in San Diego. OP could
call them for advice and references.

(I could spend hours in that salvage shop... kewl stuff)
