Default Electrolux Washers; Why No Review In Recent CR Mag. Do You Think ?

Hi Folks,

Interested in a new washing machine for home.
Front loader, probably.

Wanted to consider the Electrolux brand, as they seem to be the only one
that offers a left or right opening door hinge (true ?)

Anyway, the new CR mag. came out today with a big review of washers.
All the brands you could think of, but absolutely nothing re Electrolux.

Why ?

Is Electrolux (still) thought of highly, or is it a "poor quality"
product now ?

Any thoughts on would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Bob

Some years ago when we were in the market (frig, IIRC) local stores were
abandoning the brand due to quality problems. We were disappointed as they
had a product that we liked (at least on the showroom floor!) but heard
similar stories at several of the appliance vendors in town.

Of course, things change with time. And, one particular product (line)
may be experiencing problems while others aren't.

We bought a Samsung W/D pair -- largely on the recommendation of a
friend with similar models. ~16 mos later the washer "broke" (door
latch) -- in a household that sees very light, *respectful* use
(no kids slamming doors, hanging on them, etc.).

When we mentioned to the friend who'd recommended the pair, she commented:
"Oh, we've already replaced BOTH the washer and dryer!"

frown

So, we've seriously reconsidered the pricey replacement refrigerator since
then! Can pay for a lot of electricity with the thousands of dollars that
they want for an icebox! :-/

Front loaders were problematic a few years back but that may have
improved. Electrolux/Frigidaire has been midrange mostly. We stuck
with Maytag top loader when we bought a bit over a year ago.

....and of course, Maytags are now made in the same plant as the other "tagged" Whirpools.

Have problems with my Samsung dryer which began during the "year"
warranty by Samsung. Attempts by a few Samsung service retailers were
made several times only to return and now Samsung refuses to resolve the
problem because the warranty is past. DUH, if it was fixed properly the
first time, it wouldn't have lapse past the warranty year.

I will never purchase a Samsung again.

The US China trade deficit is not large enough yet.
When the deficit grows a little more, maybe we'll all be unemployed.

Look for that "Hecho en China" label.

Ask about their warranty promotion.

https://www.electroluxexperience.ca/...ndingPage.aspx

Here-abouts southern Ontario Electrolux is still quite common
in the appliance stores. less so in the big box stores, I see.
I'm thinking about a Huebsch - but not sure if they are really worth
it ... ~ $ 3000. vs ~ $ 1000. for a basic front loader.

FWIW, from a Boston-area appliance dealer's blog:

"8. Electrolux
4,840 Sold / 717 Serviced - 14.81%
Although they have very technical appliances, this number is mostly from
their reliable laundry."
