Maytag dishwasher con'td ( Dec 19 )
Well, I finally had the repairmen show up this morning and they were confused to say the least. I told them about the recall and they opened the package and were dumbfounded with all the electric wires that were included...like they knew nothing about hooking it up. Of course they tried to make the sales pitch that it would cost about $200 bucks for part and labor, and only 90 day warranty. I told them then about the Solenoid like someone here recommended that I ask. He took out his multmeter and checked for continuity and showed me the low reading around 21, I think I saw. He called the parts department and they quoted 49.95 for the water inlet and the cost of labor....plus no guarantee that replacing the valve would solve the problem. I told them that it is worth buying a new one for that price, and at least I will get hopefully 10 year warranty, instead of the 90 days they will give. Now if i get a 'handyman', it will probably cost about the same as the repairmen were asking, and more likely, the Handyguy would be hard to find again.
