Default Mold Remediation

Anyone out there have any experience with mold remediation after a water leak was repaired? I read about one family who had to abandon their multimillion dollar home and belongings after an extremely toxic form of mold permeated their home and belongings. I ask because storm damage to my brother's home cause some leaks that damaged a wall and the front entrance to the house. o_O

Fortunately for me, my experience is limited. I do
know one fellow who tried to tear out some moldy
floor from a trailer. The experience put him in the
hospital, and wiped out much of his body function.

I've also heard that with some spray on stuff and
respirators, it's possible to work on mold and
live to tell.

I'd be tempted to hire the work out if at all
possible.

There first has to be mold to begin with. My experience is that if
you catch the leak, deal with it quickly, take reasonable steps to
dry it out, you won't get mold. You typically get mold if it's a
leak that goes on for a long time or you don't allow it to dry
out in a reasonable amount of time. Having the AC on now would be
one good way to help get the water out.

Be very careful using the "M" word. Mildew is okay; but using Mold can
bring on many problems. Reporting Mold needing remediation may get the
house tagged, needing disclosure at every sale afterwards or recorded
by government. Buyers may walk away as if the house is a "sick home".

Mention Mold and people's hair catches fire. A Mold remediation
company may be required to report it to officials. Check locally.

Well, my brother doesn't own the house and can move if need be. 8-)
