Default Is duct tape doomed?

Saw this recently. Said to be 100 times stronger than duct tape.

Not cheap at $6 for 40 inches.

"...But the real catch is that while it's non-toxic, you'll want to
avoid getting that resin on your skin or clothes because it's not
coming off easily. So for kidnappings and hostage situations, duct
tape is definitely still the way to go."

Real duct tape is pretty expensive, too. I'm still mad at NASA for
pretending a guy in astronaut gloves could get duck tape off the roll or
that it would work in an environment where fenders were either oven hot
or colder than a freezer. When Gene Cernan was ordered to film the
product placement, he called it "that gray American tape." He knew it
wasn't real duct tape.

The guy who had recently bought the biggest producer of duck tape
enjoyed an explosion in sales. I wonder if he was a friend of Nixon.
