Toilet flush valve won't fall... help!
www.toilet-valve.com
在 2002年1月10日星期四UTC+8上午7时52分49秒 ,Cookie写道: OK -- I'm obsessing about this 'cause, really, the toilet oughta work :::grumble, grumble:::. When I flush the toilet, the flush valve (the one that looks like two tubes attached at 60% angles and a rubber disk that goes over the stopper) rises with the chain, falls back to remain open while the tank drains... and that's it. It doesn't fall back over when the tank drains and starts to refill. Well - it does if there's no water in the tank but that's not very convenient, is it:-) The little hole in the intake tube that drains the water out of it isn't blocked and it does drain slower than the tank itself but I can't for the life of me figure out why the thing just sits back, mocking me, when the tank tries to fill up (resulting in a running toilet. I've already replaced the thing once. I've screwed around with the water level but that doesn't matter. Any hints or advice about what's going on? Help? Cookie |

Why would you say that post is spam?
John: You say you've replaced the flush valve. Instead of replacing it with another American Standard flush valve, replace it with a Crane style flush valve. The above is an "American Standard" flush valve. The above is a "Crane-style" flush valve. Since Crane's 7 year patent has expired on this style of flush valve, everyone is now making them, including American Standard for use in American Standard toilet tanks. "Crane-style" flush valves come in different heights and are made by different companies, but they all look similar and operate the same way. The flapper has a hollow section that floats when the toilet is flushed, and that flapper falls back down when the tank is empty. Typically that hollow section is open at the bottom so that any water that gets into it will drain when the flappers is down. Also, many "water saver" toilet flappers for Crane-style flush valves will have two holes in them below the sealing disk. When the flapper is open, one hole allows water to flood that hollow float and the other hole allows air to escape from that hollow float. Allowing water to flood the float like that causes the flapper to fall closed earlier, thereby saving some water. Crane style flush valves are very much more reliable than the American Standard flush valve you have. I would just replace the hardware inside your toilet tank once and for all so that you have years of trouble free service. Use a Fluidmaster 400A fill valve and anyone's Crane-style flush valve. Fluidmaster makes Crane style flush valves too. You should find them at Home Depot. Last edited by nestork : June 6th 13 at 05:13 PM |

He accurately described an American Standard toilet flush valve and his spelling and grammar are fine. Generally, people that are struggling with English won't write an easily comprehensible post like that. |
