Can't you get anything right? Some panels sold as part
of a bankruptcy isn't the problem. It's the apparently high failure
rate of panels being built and sold by manufacturers that are still in
business. The only way to try to make what has been obviously
economically unviable all along, is to make it even cheaper. And
with it goes the quality. So, now it makes even less sense.
But the bankruptcy aspect you bring up is a good point. Good luck
getting warranties honored when the panel craps out in 5 years.

The companies that make the panels may not need to go into bankruptcy to negate them from honoring their warranties since- quoting from the article:

Can someone explain why the hell these super cheap solar panels aren't
showing up in places like Harbor Freight?

I bet there are many do-it-yourself people that would love to get their
hands on some large solar panels that can put out some serious juice.

Doesn't make sense that they're not showing up in retail channels that
are already well connected to mainland China.

Just look how over-production of flat-panel LCD screens has led to a
surplus of TV's showing up in all sorts of retail stores, under labels
you've never heard of before, at prices that continue to drop like a
rock. Why isin't the same thing happening with these solar panels?

Who says it's not happening? I see where you can buy
a 6KW DIY system online for under $10K. An installed one
just a few years ago cost 10X that. No one said they are
going to be free, just that the price for the panels has dropped
significantly. And apparently so has the quality. Funny thing.
We didn't see that happen with your TV example.

Oh, please. Those panels at the warehouse were one small part
of a much larger story. The story had plenty of evidence that the
problem
does in fact also exist with Chinese manufacturers, who have a
majority of the solar panel market. That is
not China bashing. Nor is it China bashing to know that
a whole lot of stuff that comes from there is cheap, poorly
made, doesn't last, etc.

When companies are so secretive I start to wonder what percentage of their product is actually made in the U.S.

People buy cheap **** from China Harbor Freight then later wonder why it

You need to know what to buy and what not to buy.
For example:
Don’t buy anything that you can’t repair and modify.
Don’t buy anything where its functionality depends on good quality hardened metal.
Do buy disposable or items that you can visually verify its claim or validity.
Do buy items that you can’t get a better quality elsewhere.
