Mormons on the move!
http://vimeo.com/53357089?action=share

Aparently, a lot of LDS folks arrived at the
Hurricane Sandy disaster area, and pitched in
to help. Nice video.

I did something similar to this, earlier this year.
Helped with some flood damage, closer to home.
Great team spirit, much like you see in the video.
The home owners were very nice, and very
grateful.

Interesting, the fellow from The Mormon Church group gave props to
Muslim and Catholic volunteers who were also out helping people but
I haven't noticed anything in the mainstream media about religious
organizations providing assistance except perhaps the wonderful folks
of The Salvation Army. O_o

I was a lot surprised that the guys were giving
yellow vests to Non-Mormons. I've also not
heard anything on the media.

Why should Trump try to save the world? He has no legal or moral
obligation to give his money away.

Stormin:

While I'm sure that the LDS volunteers have the best of intentions, and that their efforts will be greatly appreciated by the folks in New York and New Jersey, if the lack of sufficient unskilled labour to effect the repairs were a problem, all of the local high schools would be letting the kids out to help out with the relief effort.

In some situations, such as getting sandbag dykes built before a flood crests, all that's really needed is plenty of unskilled labour.

In most situations, what's needed are people that have the specialized knowledge to assess the situation in each home and decide what needs to be done and how to do it. Since I expect most homeowners in the New York/New Jersey area didn't have insurance against overland flooding from a storm surge, they're going to be paying to have the damage to their homes repaired out of their own pockets. In that case, instead of simply tearing down plaster and putting up drywall, they might want to spend a bit more and use a relatively inexpensive but much more water resistant panel, such as Dens-Shield instead of drywall. That way, for a small difference in material costs, you can have a basement that's much more resistant to flooding. Alternatively, if insulation or wiring in those houses needed to be upgraded, they're going to want to know what kind of insulation or wiring is most practical to upgrade to in their particular situation. The people that are needed now are people that can look at each individual situation and advise the homeowners of what needs to go, what can stay and also be able to do the work correctly so that it doesn't cause a nightmare for the homeowners or building inspectors afterwards.

I applaud the LDS for wanting to help out their fellow Americans in the wake of this disaster, but if all that were needed were more strong backs to get the work done, the high schools and colleges in New York and New Jersey would already have that base covered.

The LDS volunteers will definitely help out, tho, if by doing nothing more than spending money in the affected area, and thereby helping to stimulate the local economy. I'm hoping it'll be more than that, but it wouldn't be taking the local utilities so long to restore gas and electrical power if the only problem was a shortage of manpower.

In Green Bay, Wis., the local school district is making an effort to
accommodate Muslim students' prayer schedules without interfering with
classes or the Constitution. But what school officials consider a testament
to religious freedom, others consider a form of special treatment that
Christians do not enjoy.

Akram Khalid, president of the central Pennsylvania Ahmadiyya Muslim
community, said he has been invited to schools to explain Muslim faith
requirements, but he tells members of his mosque to follow the school's
rules and not make trouble.

Ahmadiyya Muslims preach tolerance of other beliefs and have as their motto,
"love for all, hatred for none."

On top of the new homosexual clubs in Catholic schools, this is one more
nail in the coffin of Catholic education," Suresh Dominic of Campaign Life
Catholics told LifeSiteNews.com. "Separate schools are supposed to provide
an authentically Catholic environment, but they are now becoming
indistinguishable from the public secular schools."

OTTAWA - While Ottawa high schools profess to offer prayer rooms for Muslim
students, an Islamic leader says they don't have a permanent space and are
often relegated to small classrooms, if they can get space at all.

A lot of parents are frustrated that their kids can't pray in school.

It's a debate that has once again landed in court.

But is it easier for Muslim families?

Our chief investigative reporter Phil Williams has The Inside Story that's
certain to spark even more debate:

Prayer in public schools has been a difficult issue for a long time now.

By and large, the debate has focused on Christian prayers.

But what about Muslim prayers?

Right now, Christian supporters of school prayer are outraged over an ACLU
lawsuit aimed at Wilson County schools.

Mal! Can you see me, now?

Considering that the companies make their money selling gas and electric.
It's to their advantage to hvae the lines up,and be sellling. Why would they
repair slowly? Makes no sense.

Over 90% of storm related power outages are caused by falling tree branches.

So the real question is, why do we plant trees under/near power lines?

Not at this stage in the progression.

After some "accomodations" to Shariian law, that comes later.
