Has anybody tried wire instead of string? Maybe insulated, maybe
not? I would guess that store-bought string is the best material for the job, but you never know. Obviously cost is an issue, so they might sell something that's cheaper but it might require more restringing, since it doesn't last as long as something else might. Apparently there are nylon blades that can replace the string. Anything homemade? Just curious. |

When the wire breaks off small pieces, they get in your legs and eyes. Really should wear eye protection anyway as the small rocks and other pieces fly all over the place. Whatever you decide to try, make sure the pieces that fly off will not cut into you like small bullets. |
