Biomass includes trash that would otherwise go to the landfill. Saves on
oil, saves on dump sites. It can also include part of crops not edible.

it's burnable waste plant matter,like stalks from corn,sugar cane,wood
pellets,waste from breweries,etc.It may also include oil from plants,like
waste cooking oil(AKA biodiesel).

as to why you "should burn it instead of oil",there's a vast difference of
opinion there. Many want to reduce consumption of oil,that comes from
hostile(to the US) foreign countries,to reduce their influence on world
affairs.
Biomass fuel -may- be cheaper to use,if available in your area.
but you also need the proper equipment to use it.
