sediment filter housing
Is there much difference between sediment filter housings for whole house
applications? Other than inlet/outlet size, they all seem comparable as well as adequate. I would guess the same may hold true for filters. Ideas? Suggestions? |

Housings are the same for most applications. Don't wimp out with a little
filter, go for a big one so that you don't have to change cartridges all the time. They are made in 10" and 20" lengths, small (about 2" in diameter) and large at 4 1/2" in diameter, this is the cartridge size they hold. "franz frippl" wrote in message . net... The filter elements come in different weaves to catch the smaller stuff. Depending on your problems, you may want to consider two in series, one say, 25 micron, the second 5 micron. If all you get is alittle sand from a well, the larger size is probably sufficient, but if you get fine rust, go smaller. As for housings, most are similar. Some are clear, others are solid colors. The clear give you some visual indication of time to change the element. TIP: Be sure to relieve the pressure in the line before removing the cartridge and it comes off much easier. Hand tight is sufficient when you replace it. |
